I don't agree for a second with the tone, but, I think one thing (s)he's trying to point out here is that monks get all the credit for such things, but, that people shouldn't forget that the other classes are still necessary in the long run. A warrior or ranger can't prevent more damage than a monk, but, they can focus it away from the monk or other weaker characters, giving said characters a better chance to, say, heal someone or cast a mean spell on the enemies, etc. Actually, technically speaking, those other classes do reduce damage by absorbing it with higher armors (reducing capacity) or helping to kill an enemy faster (reducing total.)

Don't get me wrong, I personally think that almost all the classes are underappreciated. I do agree that sometimes the monks are given too much credit as while they are absolutely vital to the overall picture, they aren't the only ones vital to the overall picture and people sometimes forget that. Then again, sometimes people even forget that monks are vital, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised people can forget the others too a little more often.

You don't need monks, henchies work just fine.

I did THK the other day with my mesmer, we used the henchies. It was amazing, they worked out fine, no one said a word, diddn't even bother to plan, we all just knew what to do, I guess. One person died, near the end, and was up and fighting very soon after.

So, you don't need player monks, you just need to know what yer doin'.

Given bad experiences with very immature bratty monks(not all of ya, just a suprising many) that think they own the group, I'm almost to the point where I PREFER the henchies, unless it's a guild run.

I don't think anyone was saying that the other classes are of no use. Last time I checked, this thread was on why the monks were on strike.
